Georgi Pavlov - Pavleto

Georgi Pavlov — Pavleto was born on August 31, 1913 in Chiprovtsi. In 1940, he graduated painting in the class of Prof. Boris Mitov at the State Art Academy, Sofia. Works in the field of landscape, cityscape, portrait and interior. Apart from being a painter, Pavleto is also an art critic. He is the author of monographs on Bulgarian artists, including Tenyu Pindarev, Kiril Tsonev, Georgi Popov. Contributes to newspapers and magazines with his illustrations. He published two collections of poems - "When the chestnuts sleep" and "Wind over August".
His first participation in a Group Art Exhibition was in 1939, as a guest of the Society of New Artists, and Pavleto organized his first solo exhibition in 1942 in Sofia. This was followed by a number of his appearances in the artistic life of the country - he held solo exhibitions, participated in representative exhibitions of the SBH in Budapest, Bucharest, etc. In the period 1957-1958 he was the editor of the "Art Criticism" department of the "Narodna Kultura" newspaper, and from 1960 to 1961 - of the cultural department of the "Lada" magazine. Along with his active creative activity in Bulgaria, Pavleto also made trips to Russia, Algeria, France, later visited the cities of Munich, Brussels, Amsterdam, London, Paris.
Georgi Pavlov - Pavleto is a winner of national awards in the field of culture. His paintings are included in prestigious public and private collections both in Bulgaria and in Great Britain, Germany, France, Switzerland, Russia, Italy, USA, Mexico.
He died on July 29, 1995 in Sofia.
